Günün Albümü: Superblue

Çok yönlü vokalist Kurt Elling’in yeni albümü SuperBlue müzikseverlerin kara sularına ulaştı.

Yeni devir, yeni anlayış ve yeni müzik algılama biçimleri Elling’in bu yeni albümüne bütünüyle hakim. Elling, vokalde hakimiyet konusunda eşsiz bir ustalığa sahip, kendine güvenen, kusursuz vurgularla dolu bu yeni albümünde Hip-Hop atmosferinde soluk alıp veren Charlie Hunter, Corey Fornville ve Dj Harrison ile daha önce adım atmadığı yeni bir atmosfer üzerinde yürüyüşe çıkıyor.

Albümde en cool bulduğum kısımlar ise Elling’in parçaların farklı kısımlarında ansızın karşımıza çıkan “spoken word” partisyonları oldu.

Bestelere göz attığımızda grup üyelerinin bestelerinin yanında Cody Chestnutt tarafından yazılmış onlarca yıllık ölümsüzlük riffler, Wayne Shorter, Carla Bley gibi isimlerin bestelerine Elling’in sözleri ve grup üyelerinin aranjmanları ile karşılaşıyoruz. Son derece detaylı ve titiz düzenlemenin ürünü olan çeşitlilik içeren düzenlemeler duyuyoruz.

Elling her zaman bebop'tan saf pop'a ve progresif cazdan neo-soul'a uzanan bir ritim ustası olmuştur, ancak hiçbir zaman bir albümünü bu tür ritimlerle doldurmamıştı. Bu albüm açık fikirli müzikseverler için keyif garantili bir keşif yolculuğu, kıyasıya eleştirici gelenekselciler için bir hedef tahtası olmaya aday. Ama Elling eleştirileri sonuna kadar göğüsleyecek ve yolunda emin adımlarla yürüyecek cesarette bir müzisyen.

Versatile vocalist Kurt Elling's brand new album SuperBlue has reached the waters of music lovers

A new era, new understanding and new ways of perceiving music completely dominate this new album of Elling. Elling takes a walk on a new atmosphere that he has never stepped into before with his fellowed band members Charlie Hunter, Corey Fornville and Dj Harrison, breathing in the hip-hop atmosphere in this new album full of self-confidence and flawless accents, with a unique mastery of vocal dominance.

"SuperBlue" might be an average step for Elling's unique career, but a big step in music history. Edition Records' musical approach is to produce progressive and innovative sounds that live in the digital era. In this album, you will hear sound experiments that are far beyond the ordinary, which fits very well with the production goals of the company. In SuperBlue, which gave the album its name, Elling comes out of the sound galleries with the "autotune" skill. Roasted bass tones, drums that ignite the rhythm feeling in your soul are the backing kit of SuperBlue. The parts that I found the coolest in the album were Elling's "spoken word" scores that suddenly appeared in different parts of the songs. He is a such cool cat indeed!

When we look at the compositions, we encounter the compositions of the band members as well as the decades-old immortality riffs written by Cody Chestnutt, the compositions from names such as Wayne Shorter and Carla Bley etc, the lyrics of Elling, and the arrangements of the band members. We hear of diverse regulations that are the product of extremely detailed and meticulous regulation.

Elling has always been a rhythm master ranging from bebop to pure pop and progressive jazz to neo-soul, but he has never filled an album with such rhythms. This album is a delight-guaranteed voyage of discovery for open-minded music lovers, and a target for fiercely critical traditionalists. But Elling is always a brave musician who has the courage to take the criticism to the fullest and walk his way to the success.
