Günün Albümü: Eubanks Evans Experience

Gitarist Kevin Eubanks ve piyanist Orrin Evans’ın uzun süredir beklenen ortak projesi EEE Eubanks Evans Experience Evans’ın plâk şirketi Imani Records aracılığıyla 18 Martta yayımlandı. Albümde yer alan 7 parçadan sadece "Dreams of Loving You" parçasının bestesi Tom Browne’a ait, geri kalan parçaları Eubanks ve Evans birlikte ve tek başlarına bestelemişler.

Kardeşçe sevenler diyarından gelen bu iki müzisyen hayat hakkındaki kişisel sohbetlerini, mutluluklarını ve durağanlıklarını ceplerine koyarak gitar ve piyanolarını birer uçan halı misali kullanarak yolculuğa çıkmışlar, sonuçta maceracı, cesur, kimi zaman ise sakin bir müzikal deneyim meydana gelmiş. Bu artistik sohbetteki samimiyet dinleyenin ruh haline göre değişkenlik gösteren bir muhteviyata dönüşmüş.

Kimi zaman havada yayılan sesler rahatlık verirken, kimi zaman keskin formları olan perkusif icralar dinleyiciyi zımba gibi uyanık tutuyor. Sesler bazen birbirine geçişiyor, bazen kontrastlar yaratarak farklı yönlere sapıyor. Ama duo projelerde en sevdiğim haliyle biri susup diğeri konuşmuyor, aksine adeta her bir enstrüman tabir yerindeyse aynı sayıda notayla ses üretiyor. 6 ve 7. parçalar Chris’s Jazz Cafe’de canlı kaydedilmiş. Canlı kayıtta tabak, çatal ve öksürük seslerini kayıttan çıkartırsanız muazzam bir stüdyo kaydı kadar temiz ve konsantre bir kayıt duyabilirsiniz. O kadar doğru bir kayıt ve mix hazırlanmış ki sanki müzisyenler mekânda canlı çalmıyor da kayıt odasında bir köşede yemek yiyorlarmış gibi hissediyorsunuz. Duo formatının ayna etkisi yaratan bir hali var, kalbinizde ne varsa direkt olarak dinleyicinize yansıtıyor. Tecrübeli bu iki virtüöz müzisyen farklı hayatlarda, farklı profesyonel müzikal denemeler içinde kariyerlerini geliştirmişler ve bunu EEE ile kayıt altına almışlar. İkİliyi uzun süredir takip eden bir müziksever olarak bu ilk deneyimi çok beğendim ve gelecek albümlerini heyecanla beklemeye başladım.

The long-awaited recording of guitarist Kevin Eubanks and pianist Orrin Evans, EEE Eubanks Evans Experience, was released on March 18 via Evans' record label, Imani Records. Among the 7 tracks in the album, only the composition of Dreams of Loving You belongs to Tom Browne, while Eubanks and Evans composed the remaining tracks together and alone. Coming from the land of brotherly lovers, these two musicians put their personal conversations about life, their happiness and stability in their pockets and set off on a journey using their guitars and pianos like a flying carpet, resulting in an adventurous, courageous and sometimes calm musical experience. The sincerity in this artistic conversation has turned into a content that varies according to the mood of the listener. Sometimes the sounds emanating in the air give comfort, sometimes the percussive performances with sharp forms wake up the listener like a punch. Sometimes the voices blend into each other and sometimes they diverge in different directions creating contrasts. But in duo projects, in my favorite way, one does not shut up and speak to each other, on the contrary, each instrument produces sound for the approximately same number of notes, so to speak. Tracks 6 and 7 were recorded live at Chris's Jazz Cafe. If you remove the sounds of plates, forks and coughs from the live recording, you can hear a clear and concentrated recording like an excellent studio recording. The recording and mix is so accurate that you feel as if the musicians are not playing live in the venue, but some people came and eating their dinner in a corner in the recording room of the studio. The Duo format has a mirror effect, it reflects what is in your heart directly to your listener. These two experienced virtuoso musicians developed their careers in different professional musical trials in different lives and recorded this with EEE. As a music lover who has followed the duo for a long time, I really liked this first experience and I started to look forward to their next album.
