Eric Revis yeni konsept albümü "Slipknots Through A Looking Glass" ile algı sınırlarını genişleten duyarlı kulakları göreve çağırıyor.

Grammy ödüllü basçı Eric Revis’in ana akım cazın güvenli limanından ayrıldığı tekinsiz albümü "Slipknots Through A Looking Glass" 11 Eylül’de Pyroclastic Records etiketiyle yayınlandı. Revis, lider pozisyonunda yer aldığı sekiz albüm yayınladı ve ilk defa Pyroclastic Records ile çalıştı. 

Pyroclastic Records 2016 yılında Kanadalı piyanist, kompozitör Kris Davis tarafından “Duopoly and Octopus” kayıtları ve sınır tanımayan, özgür fikirli müzisyenlere bir yuva olabilmek için kuruldu. 2019'da Davis, ifadesi ticari alanın ötesinde gelişen sanatçıları desteklemek olan kâr amacı gütmeyen bir kuruluş kurdu. Değerli sanatçıların katkılarıyla yaşamını sürdürdü ve gençlerin yeteneklerini keşfedebilecekleri bir firmaya dönüştü.

Revis’in yeni albümünde yürüdüğü arayış yollarında, yeni ses keşiflerinde uzun süreli yoldaşları Chad Taylor, Kris Davis, Darius Jones ve Bill McHenry kendisine eşlik ediyor. Grup, Eric Revis’in farklı projelerde birlikte çalıştığı müzisyenlerin bir amalgam birleşimi gibi, yani, civa alaşımlı ve akışkanken uygun şartlarla bir araya geldiklerinde sertleşen bir süper grup meydana gelmiş.

Karanlık, kaotik ama ana motiften ayrılmadan ayakları yere basan bir doğaçlama caz albümü sizi bekliyor. Eric Revis’in kaslı tonuyla kurguladığı tekstürel motifler merkezinde toplanan besteler var. Revis ayrıca film yapımcıları Pierre François Lamoureux'u müzikten ilham alan sanat filmleri üretmeleri için görevlendirdi. Sonuç, tek tek veya birlikte izlenebilen 11 kısa film dizisi meydana geldi.

Revis için dinleyicilerin müziğini nasıl yorumladığı, besteleme ve kaydetme eyleminden daha önemli. Yani Revis, dinleyiciye yorum özgürlüğü vererek bestenin merkezine oturtmaktan keyif alıyor. Tchaikovky’nin hüznü ve melânkoliyi tetikleyecek elementleri buluşu gibi bazı dinleyicilerde neşeyi de keşfedebilirler.

Revis albüm notlarında "Biri bir şeyi gerçekten beğenmediğinde, bunun inanılmaz derecede dürüst ve faydalı olduğunu düşünüyorum. With respect to unspoilt, honest music

Eric Revis calls on sensitive ears that expand the limits of perception with his new concept album Slipknots Through A Looking Glass.

Grammy award-winning bassist Eric Revis' experimental album Slipknots Through A Looking Glass, in which he left the safe haven of mainstream jazz, was released on September 11th on Pyroclastic Records. Revis is releasing eight solo-led albums and for the first time with Pyroclastic Records.

Pyroclastic Records was founded in 2016 by Canadian pianist, composer Kris Davis to record "Duopoly and Octopus" and aim to be a home for free-minded musicians who has no boundaries in their minds. In 2019 Davis launched a nonprofit to support those artists whose expression flourished beyond the commercial sphere. Working with the creating affords and contributions of valuable artists and turned into a label where young people can discover their talents.

Long-time travelers Chad Taylor, Kris Davis, Darius Jones and Bill McHenry accompany him in the search new paths Revis has followed in his new album and in his new voice discoveries. It's like an amalgam of the musicians that the band Revis worked with on different projects before. In other words, when mercury is alloyed and fluid, when they come together under suitable conditions, a hardening super group has been formed. This band is a hard as a rock indeed.

A dark, chaotic but a well-grounded jazz album awaits you without leaving the main motif. There are compositions gathered in the center of textural motifs that Eric Revis constructed with his muscular (beefy) tone. Revis also commissioned filmmakers Pierre François Lamoureux to produce art films inspired by music. The result is a series of 11 short films that can be watched individually or together.

For Revis, how the audience interprets their music is more important than the act of composing and recording. In other words, Revis enjoys putting listener at the center of the composition by giving the audience freedom of interpretation. Like Tchaikovky's evokes of all the elements that will trigger sadness and melancholy, some listeners are able to discover joy.

In the album liner notes, Revis said, "When someone doesn't really like something, I think it's incredibly honest and useful. If [my music] really evokes true happiness, that's absolutely fine. But if it bothers you, it's a real feeling. And having something that does it. - I think that's great."

It is a great virtue nowadays to respect the authentic, the truth. If you liked it, you liked it, if you didn't like it, you didn't like it. Be honest and confess to yourself as a listener, just as much as the honesty of the musicians. With respect to unspoilt, honest music.
